Good foss apps!

Hello and wellcome! Today in this blog we will talk about foss apps and why they are good!

OsmAnd and Organic Maps

This entry has two apps mentioned and that is because they are both good at doing the same thing, just a little bit diffrently…

Osmand is the most complicated maps app ive ever seen, thats why its so useful. OsmAnd has one con, its ui is ugly. There is a way to make the ui look good but it requires work.

Organic maps has a beautiful ui and is much more simplistic than OsmAnd. They both do their job so choose what you think is better after trying both.

F-droid

This is the appstore for foss apps and foss apps only! They recently had a ui redesign so the app looks much better. In the past people recommended droidify instead of f-droid but now i’d recommend f-droid. It has a lot of apps and is definetly worth browsing once in a while if you like using foss stuff!

c:geo

If you like geocaching, this is for you. C:geo is a really good geocaching client for your phone! I use it because it lets me view premium caches for free. The original app just lets you log them, not view the description and hints.

SimpleX

I can safely say that this is the most secure messenger u can talk to! Here you can see everything why its safe! Its good if you are in a country where censorship is a problem.

Revolution IRC

Revolution IRC is an app that lets you connect to irc servers. Its on this list because its simple to use and really fast. This is the best IRC client ive found for android so far.

Seal

Seal lets you download any video or audio from anywhere! You just paste in the link and it just works. You can paste in links from instagram, tiktok, youtube… basically anything! Its really useful when sharing things with your friends who dont have said app!

Trailsense

This app is great! It has many tools for survival to help if you are in a survival situation. I would pair this with the next app…

Survival Guide

This is a very simple app that is really effective at doing its thing. Its an open source surival guide that anyone can edit! It is based off of a pdf file but its organized better. In the app the developer recommends trailsense because its really useful if you are in a survival situation. Sometimes i read trough this app when im bored.
